Hunk will be the only character who comes into the Mansion armed and armoured, as he has not been captured prior to beginning the game.
-
Name: Real name unknown; call-sign Hunk
Aliases: Mister Death; Reaper; usually also designated Alpha Leader
Age (actual/appears): Hunk appears to be in his fifties, but his actual age is unknown
Gender: Male
Nationality: American, as far as anyone can tell
Occupation/Organisation: Hunk is a soldier with Umbrella Special Forces, a black-ops organisation employed by the Umbrella Corporation. His loyalty to the Company is absolute. Currently, he is operating under the command of Umbrella Executive Rachel Cain.
Allies: Hunk looks at all Umbrella assets as potential allies in completing his mission, and will use them as necessary before dropping them completely. He will also do the same with civilian assets if he can manage to get them on-side. He has no friends or loved ones, and no real need for human affection.
Enemies: Hunk is opposed to anyone who opposes the Company’s interests, whether that be Stars, lobbyists, terrorists, agents of other corporations, or even corrupt Umbrella employees. Hunk has been trained to put the good of the Company first, always, and if that means trimming dead meat or wresting control from an inept faction he will do that. Hunk’s enemies are always shifting, and his employer one day may be his target the next.
Physical Description: Hunk is average in height at just under six feet tall, with an average build. He has powerful core muscles and strong limbs, designed for a perfect balance of strength, endurance and speed. He has short, light hair, now almost completely grey, and usually sports stubble, only shaving every third or fourth day. His body is littered with scars, the worst of which include two sets of parallel claw marks across his stomach and back, from a Licker and Hunter respectively. Beneath and above his eyes he has small knots of scarring from where he has cut and bled swollen eyes.
He has a metal plate grafted into his skull, the scars from which can be seen running across his scalp, and several of his joints have been replaced with artificial prostheses. Fortunately, Umbrella has perfected the process to the point where there is no difference in his ability after the operations. His features are squashed and broken from repeated blows to the face, giving him an almost constant pugnacious, angry expression.
Attire: For this mission, Hunk is clad in black combat fatigues - trousers and a long-sleeved shirt - with Kevlar armour, military-grade boots, knee and shoulder pads, and a helmet buckled under his chin. He also wears a trademark gasmask with red eye filters that can be adjusted to see in various low-light spectrums. He carries a radio pack for communicating with HQ over long distances on his back, and a combat knife in a shoulder holster. He also has pistol holsters on his chest and thigh for his sidearm and heavy calibre semi-automatic.
Strengths: Hunk is a soldier with no equal. Skilled in the use of various classifications of firearms, explosives and CQC, as well as stealth and reconnaissance, he has all the tools necessary to undertake his missions in the most blunt and brutal way imaginable. He is perfectly conditioned for this lifestyle - strong, fast, alert and relentless, yet compact. Ruthless to a fault, Hunk cares for his mission first, his life second, and everything else third. As such, he is the perfect weapon for the Company to use in pursuing its agendas. However, he is autonomous, capable of drawing a line where he feels his actions will not help the Corporation. Several of his employers have been on the receiving end of swift and bloody retribution when their actions have erred too close to betrayal.
Weaknesses: A soldier is all that Hunk is. He has no other talents or passions, and spends his time exclusively training or undertaking dangerous missions. He is not a social man, with no warmth or affection to give. As such, he does not endear himself to others. He is a perfect specimen of professionalism and demands that from all those he works with, which tends to make him difficult to work with for those in touch with their emotions. While he is unbendingly loyal, he is loyal only to Umbrella, to the point of being unconcerned for his own well-being in comparison with its continued existence. He has been left for death on at least two occasions by the Company, but knows this is merely his role within the organisation, and has fought his hardest to survive, only to return to the Corporation. This may be his greatest weakness.
Personality: Hunk’s foremost character trait is his loyalty to the Umbrella Corporation. He is a harsh disciplinarian with no tolerance for weakness or inefficiency. His every thought is bent towards accomplishing the Company’s agendas and conditioning himself to be the perfect tool for such tasks. He makes no friends and has no real desire for any either. He is cold and ruthless, with no qualms about causing collateral damage, and will happily use other soldiers, even allies, or even non-combatants as decoys in the field if necessary.
Though he has no real romantic streak, Hunk attaches to individuals as intensely loyal to the cause as himself, providing that they make the first move to initiate these relationships. However, loyalty is a non-negotiable trait to him, and those he serves with are usually as incapable of ordinary affection as he is. Several women attached to his unit, who have engaged him in a “relationship” in the past, have learned to their cost that he does not accept rejection with grace. He has given his life to the Company, and expects the same from his partners. Traitors, to him or to the Corporation, swiftly become targets and then corpses. He makes these transitions in moments, and feels neither remorse nor pity for his victims.
Background: Nothing is known about Hunk’s background prior to joining the Umbrella Corporation, and little is known about his early days. All that is common knowledge is that he was trained by the Company to serve the Company, and has done so competently and without question for as long as anyone can remember.
His service record is unremarkable for one very important reason - it is all the same to him. Whether assassinating high-ranking Umbrella executives turned traitor, foiling coups, or retrieving samples and data of new viruses, Hunk tackles it all with the same stoic demeanour, even when things go terribly, horribly wrong. His file reads like a veritable catalogue of hellholes and infested pits that any other man would have been commended to escape, particularly those where even he was given up for dead. Instead, he is simply folded back into Umbrella’s deck and dealt anew.
Over the years, he has accrued various wounds and prostheses, which are his only decorations for service. He has floated through the hands of various executives, some of whom were eliminated by outside agencies or internal power struggles, while some were killed by him in furtherance of the Company’s agenda. Hunk has entertained several “romances”, all of which have been terminated as a result of the transient nature of his partners’ “affection”.
He is currently serving as part of a USF detachment under the remit of Executive Cain, an ambitious woman who secretly regards Albert Wesker - the independent consultant to the Umbrella Corporation - as her greatest enemy. As such, she has despatched Hunk as her eyes and ears within Wesker’s game, to gather information on what has so thoroughly tied up the Company’s resources.
Hunk's call-sign refers to his specialisation as a retrieval/assassination operative, or Hunter-Killer. There was another operative who carried the same handle who bore striking similarities to Hunk. But if they were the same person, that would make Hunk himself more than a hundred years old.
Personal Effects: Hunk carries a combat knife with an eighteen-inch blade of tempered steel, serrated on one side, a heavily customised Umbrella-manufacture semi-automatic pistol firing 9mm rounds, and another that fires .50 calibre slugs. He totes a compact sub-machinegun, also customised, that fires .45 calibre rounds. He has a number of smaller blades for stealth kills secreted on his person, and a selection of explosives for various situations.
