Name: Cayden Tobias Redfield
Aliases: Cailean (KAY-lee-en) Christopherson. Also occasionally (teasingly) referred to as “The Accidental God”.
Age (actual/appears): Actual age is 105, kind of. / Appears as he was at 29 – has stopped aging.
Gender: Male
Nationality: American
Occupation/Organization:
Former B.I.O. Operative – Pointman, Delta team. Later; Captain, Alpha Team.
Currently – Unemployed; very underground vigilante. Regarded as a grade-A “terrorist” in the eye of the public.
Allies: Presently, Cayden considers his “aunt”—Claire Redfield—to be his only friend and ally. Any and all of Cayden’s other friends and compatriots are long since dead.
- Chris Redfield, although he certainly does not know that the man is still alive and running around the mansion’s hallways, at least not as of this juncture.
- No other allies have been made presently speaking, but because Cayden doesn’t exactly “play well with others”—his sarcastic, dour, self-righteous personality type tends to get in the way of that—the prospect of “friends” doesn’t seem likely. He’ll be willing to work with other survivors around the mansion, so long as they are willing to work with him. Trust though, that’s a different issue.
Enemies: Cayden knows no enemies other than a one Albert Wesker, but he will consider anyone who stands in his way to be foe and opposition and will be dealt with thusly.
Physical Description: 6’2” (188.9 cm), 189lbs (85.9 kg), blood type: O
Cayden is tall and hale with bone-pale flesh and a built, lean-but-muscular physique. Robust would be a good adjective. He has an unnatural “vivid auburn” hair-colour (which just attests to his very unconventional origins), and what were once gray-green eyes are now a yellow-gold wreathed in crimson. The hellfire eyes are, of course, punctuated by reptilian, finely slit pupils. Beneath his eyes Cayden has permanent rings; deep purple-red bags that exist largely due to a lack of proper sleep.
He has high cheekbones, thin lips, and sharp features, including his jaw and nose; although Cayden does share some mild physical characteristics in common with genetic forerunner B (Chris), his face is startlingly similar to that of genetic forerunner A (Wesker) - as far as his eyes, lips, and nose are concerned, he looks almost identical to Albert. The eyes now especially, although Chris and Cayden do share the same hairline.
The fact that he resembles a certain blonde’s likeness so distinctly should probably be the first thing that anyone who knows a Wesker (John or Albert) makes note about him: he is very obviously kin. Cayden does have a greater range of facial expressions than Albert does, however. Most of them being some variation of sarcastic.
While in his younger years Cayden wore his hair cropped and styled, he has since-forth buzzed it all off; shaving his hair is the one thing he feels as though he can do to dissuade his over-all visage from looking too much like either one of his “forerunners”. Keeping it short has almost become a something of a compulsory habit by now.
As opposed to his youth, where he looked far older than he really was, Cayden now looks about his age. Since he has altogether stopped aging, however, he will forever appear to be in his late twenties.
Cayden’s chest, stomach, and torso alike are riddled with little puncture-wound like scars from his days as a human, but he hardly pays them much of any mind. They are merely nicks that serve as a reminder of his previous ‘mortal enemy’, and the ending she suffered at her maker’s hand. Any other scars he might have sustained after his ascension to “Tyrant” status have, of course, healed over and left no permanent bearing.
When he was very young, Cayden had his nose broken not once, but twice - first at the age of six, and then again at seventeen. As a result he has a slight knot in the bridge of his nose. This is the most notable different between Cayden and Wesker’s facial features, and is best examined from the profile.
As Cayden no longer wears high-collared tops it is important to point out the strange device at the back of his neck, as it would be there for all the world to see; there is a small, metal, outlet-like piece of equipment which protrudes from the base of Cayden’s neck, just above the shoulders. It is about 1.5 inches (44mm) in diameter, stainless steel, and perfectly circular. Across the top of the device is the engraving “Umbrella”, although this is only legible when viewed up close. The device is no longer active (and hasn’t been since he was first unplugged from a series of computers by Chris) but for some great while the thing on the back of his neck haunted him and he didn’t like for anyone to see it. Since forth, he has grown to stop caring.
The last physical attribute to take note of would be a tattoo on his left inner-arm, which runs vertical, from his wrist to just above his elbow:
B R A N D O N 99-45
Cayden usually wears brown contact lenses in order to cover his eyes. Those seem to have been removed.
Attire: For this venture Cayden will be wearing a tightly-fitted black sports top, a shoulder holster with stomach pouches, black fatigues, military boots, belt, knee-guards, and fingerless gloves. He also has an additional leg-holster, plus hip and thigh packs; since Cayden is sort of an ox, he is used to lugging a shit ton of gear for both he and Claire, although said gear seems to have been taken.
Most important to his person, Cayden always wears a set of military dog tags. They are his most private and personal possession, and the only affect that he gives even the slightest damn about. Well, the tags and his twin Taurus OSS Semiautomatics, which he will be pissed to know are missing. The name on his dog tags read: Jameson Remington Jr.
Strengths: Super Powers. Since becoming a Tyrant, Cayden has speed, muscle, and self-regenerative abilities in spades—raw brute force being the first and foremost of the three. He’s got a round-house-kick that can pretty much take a Hunter’s face off.
Perhaps surprisingly, however, there is a fourth strength that he possesses which is greater still: stamina. His readiness and ability to endure are frankly unmatched. Even when he was human, Cayden possessed an unnatural and unparalleled level of endurance; he would often push himself to the point of puking, wipe his lip, and then carry on, unfazed. Now, as an advanced species, he is in a class all his own when it comes to crossing long distances or braving a prolonged fist-fight: he virtually NEVER tires. This makes him extremely useful in a lengthy pursuit or skirmish, because even if his opponent is faster, he has more fight and tenacity in the long haul.
Cayden also has in increased sense of sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound. All five of his senses have been hyper-amplified due to his transformation. Not only this, but he seems to have a “sixth sense” for locating others of a like-kind; he can intuitively sense when other infected are nearby, and to what levels that they are infected, from harmless immunity, to the ghoul-like T-carriers, to those fostering superior viral strands; such as “T-Veronica” and the “Tyrant Gene” that he and Wesker carry.
As for arms – Cayden is a professional sharp-shooter; his accuracy with a fire-arm is nary matched. His weapons of choice are two Taurus 24/7 OSS Semiautomatic handguns and a RobArm M96 Assault Rifle. While he doesn’t use knives often, he is capable enough with a blade when in a pinch. More often than not however, Cayden prefers to us his fists and feet to subdue the living-dead or any of Umbrella’s Bio-Weapons.
Cayden, while hot-headed, is actually incredibly intelligent. He could recite for you miles of genetic equations or decipher complex scientific formula and theorems. This makes him a useful asset if there are complex chemicals that need mixing or if there is a virology-related issue needs solved, but the problem is that Cayden much prefers violence to reason.
Weaknesses: Hot-headed, short-tempered, and easy to piss off, Cayden’s natural state of being is constantly irritable. While not as explosive, caustic, or vehement as in his youth, Cayden can still be quick to anger and resort to violence before taking the time to sit and think things through. The weak links in his armor are not all that hard to spot either, which makes his temper extremely exploitable—this can be bad for any ‘friends’ and allies to his being, considering the amount of damage the boy can deal with little to no intent. Temper aside, Cayden is stubborn, rude, pessimistic, and not afraid to tell people bigger and badder than him to fuck off, even when it simply isn’t a good time to run his mouth.
Although he has super-human abilities, and pound for pound he is probably about as strong as Wesker, Cayden’s regenerative abilities are much, much slower and he is nowhere near as fast. Sheer strength means nothing if you cannot hit your target and his lack-of ability to recover from physical injuries in a quick and timely manner is a dangerous variable in conjunction to his partnership with Claire—Cayden is extremely vulnerable to fire. Fire will catch and ignite Cayden quickly, and is a major deterrent for him. Thus Claire’s inability to control her own powers (on occasion) makes for a deadly and dangerous mix.
Because his self-healing abilities are slow, he could theoretically re-attach a limb within the first few minutes of its being freshly-severed, but if the action is not fairly immediate he would lose said appendage forever. Also, in spite of super-advanced capabilities, decapitating him or destroying his brain would end him permanently.
Cayden is psychologically unstable, on top of all the rest; he suffers from Schizotypal personality disorder, which gives to him an aggrandized (and inaccurate) sensation of self importance. It also causes in him a condition known as “blunted affect”; a term which describes a lack of emotional reactivity or and diminished ability to empathize for others. Along with the blunted affect, he suffers from “inappropriate affect” and “constricted affect”. Inappropriate affect means that his outward displays of emotion may be completely out of context for the situation at hand (i.e. – laughing while describing pain or sadness) while constricted affect may cause a person to seem cold and aloof, with a restricted range of emotions. The condition of his personality disorder may render others to feel unsettled by his “unfeeling” disposition and, perhaps even more alarming; the way that it makes him seem so much more like the man who has brought each of them here. Cayden takes no form of medication for his disorder.
Despite the fact that Cayden might not be able to emote properly, he really does have deep and visceral connections to the people whom he cares about, which is an extremely exploitable vulnerability—and in more than one regard; because Cayden cares for so few people, the people that he does care about mean everything to him. Putting them in harm’s way will turn him into a panicky violent animal. In this current chapter of his life, that means Claire. Anyone who gets between he and Claire, upsets her, or tries to cause her any kind of harm is going to get their shit fucked. This also means that that bringing up people who he has failed to be able to protect in the past is like digging at a deep and festering wound; it is emotionally crippling and a good way to ensure that he has a miniature freak-out.
Cayden is addicted to his cigarettes (new ports, unfiltered, quarter-pack a day), and waking up without them is certainly going to leave him surly.
Last, but certainly not least, Cayden is ophidiophobic: he has a rather intense fear of snakes. At the very least they make him feel nervous and generally uncomfortable, at its worst they’ll cause him a full-blown terror-stricken episode.
Personality: Cayden is the very definition of an inner-dichotomy. He has two very real, very distinct aspects of his personality which seem to try tear him in two different directions at all times. There is a part of him that genuinely longs for praise and approval, to do the right thing and to help those who are in need, but there is also another part of him entirely that is pessimistic, cold, and very frankly put: detests life and despises the human species entirely. These two separate parts of himself are constantly at war with one another, and every action he takes is a very distinct step in either one direction or the other. There is no middle-ground.
While in his younger years Cayden struggled with this internal battle desperately, by now he has made a much-convicted decision about which side of the battlefield that he is on. Still, his natural inclinations persist in making life difficult for him; one could say that his next biggest enemy after Albert Wesker is himself.
The Cayden of this timeline is notably older and more mature, thus his personality may have changed some, but the core of his being is still, in essence, the same.
At heart Cayden is a very protective individual with strong instinctual drives to keep those that he loves safe from any kind of danger. He may wear a mask of quick-tempered indifference towards even those he cherishes most, but this is just a shell to keep himself from being hurt; anger and outrage are the only tools he understands how to use in order to cover up his feelings. But behind closed doors, Cayden is a very different individual; he has moments of weakness, confusion, and fear, despite always playing the hardboiled and aloof badass.
Cayden is very protective and defensive of children, and believes with almost an obsessed fervor that he has to protect children at any and all costs. While he may not like most women, and bares a distinct distrust of men, there is nothing that he won’t sacrifice in order to save the life of a child.
Over the years Cayden has had to adapt to trying to fill Chris’ shoes and assume his role, especially so in the cause of his “aunt”, Claire. Cayden is just as protective of Claire as he is with a child, and he is determined to let nothing happen to her—she is his only family and has been for a long time.
Further in the name of growth and development (in this rather disparaging alternate-universe); Cayden has become somewhat jaded over the years, more prone to showing his sorrows, grievances, and pains, or even his fears, than he was when he was actually human. At the same time, however, he is also more apt to smiling, laughing, and finding it in himself to be patient with others.
Cayden is Chaotic Neutral in character alignment.
Background: Cayden was “conceived”—better adjectives might be “created”, “compiled”, or “manufactured”—from the physiological constructs of Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker’s unique genetic profiles in February of two-thousand and two, the second (and therefore younger) of two highly-unethical genetic experiments. The project was being headed by Wesker himself.
Cayden was shaped and then stored within a cylindrical, glass tank in a sort of sleep-like status where Albert wished him to remain until he was fully developed (evidentially about his twenties). Growing at five times the rate of your average human child, while he was inside of said tank, his amplified growth-rate was due to appropriating methods used to grow MA-121á “Hunter” Units. Cayden was fed information via a cable which ran from the base of his next to a supercomputer housed outside of his tank. Cayden still has a chip inside his brain that is now inactive, but at the time ensured him a very specific and formulated “education”.
Exactly what Wesker had intended to do with said projects remains to this day unknown, although best guesses implicate that he had hoped to create two loyal and compliant subjects who would be willing to do his every bidding. As for why Chris’ DNA was involved: Chris, while infuriating as he could be, had proved to be a resilient opponent for the blonde. Likewise, Cayden’s companion-project (a one Amelia Suzette Wesker) had been created compiling a similarly-superior adversary’s genetic constructs – the late miss Alexia Asford – which, when mixed with Wesker’s own DNA, would result in a narcissistic and deadly queen.
A mere year after his creation, on November the 13th of 2003, whilst infiltrating the facility where Cayden was being held—a facility housing some of the blonde Tyrant’s personal research—Chris discovered the now five-year-old and nine-year-old Cayden and Amelia. Following his very powerful drive to protect, Christopher attempted to rescue both children. Though he managed to activate both projects, a severely pissed demigod saw to it that he only managed to procure one. That one being Cayden. The other child was left to be raised by Wesker’s hands, her carefully-constructed intelligence program thoroughly destroyed thanks to Chris’ meddling.
It was quickly made understood that Cayden was maladjusted and disturbed; his very unholy mix of genetic characteristics saw to it that functioning like a normal human child was out of the question for him. He had Chris’ quick-temper and all of Wesker’s reprisal and scorn. Being a cross-combination of the genetic attributes of two people who are such inherent yin-yang opposites meant that Cayden had a lifelong inner-battle ahead of him in order to determine what is right and what is wrong.
It wasn’t until a medical examination some time later that the truth about Cayden’s very “unique” linage was made understood; half of Cayden’s alleles belong to Chris, while the other half match a certain narcissistic blonde. Although they couldn’t exactly prove it without a sample of Wesker’s DNA, his features and distinct personality left little room for doubt.
As he grew Cayden became increasingly more violent and difficult to control. Because of his impassioned urges and spiraling tendencies, Chris allowed for Cayden to embark on B.I.O. campaigns at a very early age. It was a risky move, but would ultimately prove to the outlet that Cayden needed, for in as much as genetics were to call Cayden Chris’ “son”, his blood also links him strongly to THAT man – a truth which simply will not be denied.
In 2013, at the age of 15, Cayden embarked on his first mission, and it goes badly. He is stranded in hostile territory for a little over a week with little food and provisions, and all of his superior officers dead. Although the operation of “protect any escort any and all survivors to the evacuation site” had become second to his own survival, while clearing himself a path Cayden happens upon a 4-year-old girl by the name of Milla Remington. During the time that he spends with her, he grows to care for her more than he has ever cared for anyone, but through Wesker’s strings (always, orchestrating things from the shadows, and keeping track of the project that others might well have considered “lost to him”) the girl met with a gristly end at the hands of the undead. Although Cayden came running to the sounds of her screaming, it was already too late. A harsh lesson indeed as Cayden had only let her out of his sight for just a few brief moments and the girl had pretty much been torn apart.
Although nothing could be done for her, Cayden carried her lifeless body all the way to the evac site only to be told that he could not take her with him and give her a proper burial; even though he had injected her with an anti-T serum in an attempt to save her (and thus there were no chances of her reanimating on them) she was still considered “hot”. Angry, Cayden took the one thing he could that he could remember her by; the set of dog tags that her father had given to her before locking her inside of a closet in order to protect her from his own transformation. Cayden wears them to this day, like a puerile good luck charm. They also serve as a token reminder to never forget;
Although Milla’s existence in his life was a brief and fleeting blip in time, her death is ultimately what pushed Cayden into being a completely cynical prick who refuses to let anyone in. It also, simultaneously breeds in him the belief that children are innocent and need to be protected; she is his reason for having a soft spot for children.
In 2015, 3 full years later (and at the age of 18), Cayden is officially made a member of B.I.O.’s delta team. Much to his chagrin, Cayden is made Point Man instead of Captain, as Chris felt that he was too hot-headed and self-serving to play the role of a leader. But in as much as Cayden found frustrations in this, greater still was his jealousy over Amelia:
Through the years, under her father’s careful overseeing, she had grown into a powerful demigoddess. A True Tyrant, with wicked claws, hellfire eyes, and only the desire to serve her maker. A constant antagonist in Cayden’s life, she taunted perpetually; physically, psychologically, and emotionally, in any way that she could. Mocking his lack of power, insisting that he would never live up to the potential for which he was created, she had broken his nose twice, fractured his jaw, broken four ribs, his arm, and both wrists throughout the course of their rivalry; and this is why Cayden hates women.
These constant and vicious battles lasted until he was 20: In the year of 2017, the both of their lives would change course forever.
Although Amelia had been raised to hate all humans, one of Cayden’s team mates on Delta Team, Demetri, their Omni Man, had caused her to feel something; appealed to a very human part of her, a part of her that she knew she should not have. Every encounter they’d had, instead of trying to fight with her he’d tried to reason and insist that she change. In a rather sordid twist of events, Demetri threw himself in front of a bullet for her, despite her abilities to heal herself and heal quickly. He died telling her that he couldn’t help himself; she was too beautiful to live like this, as a slave, and that he just wanted for her to be free. Confused at the swell of emotions, and at the idea that a human would be so readily willing to sacrifice himself on her behalf—when her own creator, her “father”, most certainly would not—meant that she turned on her maker. Their battle was short-lived however, as Wesker ensured her a swift, painful death. He certainly did not tolerate insubordination.
As for Cayden’s part; it had been he who’d killed Demetri. He had not anticipated the other man taking the bullet that was meant for his counterpart. Although he and Cayden had fought and argued constantly—Demetri always pushing his buttons and Cayden cutting him down for being such a jester—they were brothers in arms, and the realization that this was what Wesker’s kind of power meant; the lives of friends and innocents, the lives of people who trusted you, awakened in Cayden the startling revelation that this wasn’t what he wanted. He did not want to follow his creator before him down into the dregs of darkness, a path that he had been taking unconsciously; he didn’t crave power anymore.
Later that same year, Chris was to perform a solo-mission, one which would cost him his life (or so everyone was to believe); his death took a heavy toll on B.I.O.’s moral and their united efforts to stop Umbrella. Things seemed more hopeless now than ever. This was when Cayden felt it pertinent to step up to bat, because if he did not, then he knew that no one would. Taking on the title of “Alpha Team Captain” because no one else seemed brave enough fill the role, Cayden became their next unofficial leader.
Cayden proved to be a competent leader, but even so, many more people died.
Rebecca Chambers, Barry Burton, Jill Valentine, Carlos Olivera, Billy Coen, and many others, were all hunted down, tortured, and murdered, systematically.
In 2026, at the age of 29, Cayden met with his own ending; attempting to take Wesker on by himself, Cayden was granted a fist through his own stomach as a reward for his “brave” behavior, and then left to die. Although he could not know it, Cayden had been host to the same (latent) virus that he had coveted for years, as a child and young man. Now that he didn’t want it any more, it had been thrust upon him; Some 20 minutes after the spark of life had flickered from his eyes, Cayden re-awakened finding himself transformed into something new. While some people insisted that Cayden just got off lucky, that there was no way Wesker would have let him live, much less come back with powers to match his own, Cayden, at his very core, was never so very sure. It seemed too very ‘convenient’ for him. Never the less, people began to call him “the accidental god”.
It wasn’t until after his death and rebirth that Cayden began to grow close to his aunt Claire, who had started to push people out because of her own recently-acquired “B.O.W.” status. When Leon died, Claire began to shut people out even more. Cayden was the only one that she confided in, and this inspired in him the desire to be even more like Chris; he knew that he had to protect her at any cost. He was the only family that she had left… and soon enough, the reverse statement would become a truth.
In 2045, Cayden’s long-time partner and lover, Brandon Jay, met his end while on campaign. Falling victim to one of Umbrella’s usual toys, Cayden was there until Brandon slipped away and then put a bullet in his brain to ensure that he wouldn’t come back. Like with Milla, Cayden realized that he could not construct a grave or monument; he simply moved around too much, and there was no way that he could take the other man’s corpse with him. Instead, he could only press on and continue with the mission. In commemoration, Cayden got a tattoo on his left arm which reads B R A N D O N 99-45. Like with the dog tags, it is to insure that he never forgets.
Years passed and ultimately B. I. O. dissolved under Umbrella’s indomitable might. Now only Claire and Cayden remain, very underground freedom fighters going by fake names.
The present date is year 2102. The world has fallen into Wesker’s hands. Although Cayden and Claire thought that they have been playing it safe, working their hardest to keep Wesker’s scent off of their trail, Cayden is to find himself to a very rude awakening in the harrowed halls of a mansion he has only ever heard stories about.

Although nothing could be done for her, Cayden carried her lifeless body all the way to the evac site only to be told that he could not take her with him and give her a proper burial; even though he had injected her with an anti-T serum in an attempt to save her (and thus there were no chances of her reanimating on them) she was still considered “hot”. Angry, Cayden took the one thing he could that he could remember her by; the set of dog tags that her father had given to her before locking her inside of a closet in order to protect her from his own transformation. Cayden wears them to this day, like a puerile good luck charm. They also serve as a token reminder to never forget;
