Name: Mana Ira
Aliases: Sharona Friedensshon (surname changed to Dreyfuss after marrying), Ratel, Troll, Grandma, Ariel
Age (actual/appears): Age (actual/appears): Mana looks to be in her late 40s to early 50s. She says and believes she is 52 (shortly going on 53), but does not know she spent 90 years in cryogenic stasis and is now 143 years old.
Gender: Female, spite the contrary that many assume she is a per-adloscent male.
Nationality: Mana has a native-born citizen of Israel with naturalized citizenship for the United States of America.
Occupation/Organization: It is known that Mana is a Senior Officer in the IDF and a member of the Sayeret Matkal. However, her exact position is unknown.
Allies: Mana has made many allies over the year, but her current situation has left her with no one to rely on except herself.
Enemies: The same as well for her enemies. The current situation has also left her without knowing which ones are responsible for kidnapping her in the first place.
Physical Description: Mana is 152 cm and 54.4 kg (5' and 120 lbs. in US equivalents). She is physically in shape and has a straight body type. She has brown eyes, a dark-olive skin tone from genetics and staying outdoors, and white hair cut to a chin-length bob. Her baby face has been showing signs of aging since her early 40s (which she is quite thankful for).
Mana has a few scars. The most prominent can be found on the outside of her lower forearms. One was the result of a surgery, the rest from a bar fight during her younger years. The one on her abdomen is from an appendectomy as a teenager. She also has two tattoos, one on each upper arm. The right has the words "My Way" written in cursive. The left has a hamsa with a Hebrew phrase in green written below it.
Attire: Mana, at the time of her kidnapping, was in standard combat dress for her unit. It consists of a tan military fatigue button-up top and pants, a red beret with no insignia, burnt orange tee, olive green belt, and reddish brown boots.
The top's sleeves are rolled above the elbows while the bottom part is tucked into the pants. There are three ribbons and one pin above the left breast pocket, and a cloth tag with her surname in Hebrew above the right breast pocket. The hunter green straps with a single metal leaf underlined with red cloth is located on each shoulder. The left shoulder tag is circular at the bottom and has a circular logo consisting of a white and green Fleur-de-lis within a star of David. Pants are kept in place with a olive green belt and the legs are tucked into reddish-brown boots. A burnt orange tee is underneath the fatigue top.
Strengths: Mana was trained in stealth and asymmetric warfare. She's quick on her feet and her small size makes it easier to hide, go through small spaces, and harder to hit (since opponents have to aim lower). She knows how to use a lot of small firearms, but is mainly proficient in pistols and sub-machine guns. In close combat, she uses Krav Maga. She focuses on fighting smarter (or really dirty depending on one's code of honor).
Mana is quite good at making friends out of anyone and earning their trust. Her experience on the field makes her a competent leader and tactician. She also is good at noticing people's strengths and how to make them work together.
Weaknesses: Mana can be easily defined as squishy. Her small size also makes it hard to lift heavy objects, use heavy-caliber firearms, and fighting physically larger and stronger opponents. Age has caused her reflexes to become a tad slower and faster to fatigue. Mana's
has little medical and scientific knowledge to work with. She can become easily frustrated if she notices a mistake that no one else has.
She has a fear of snakes.
Personality: At first, it seems that Mana rubs people in all the wrong ways. She is a stubborn, brutally honest hard-ass and is very uncouth when it comes to her speech and opinions. Years of military experiences have made this woman into a battle-harden individual with a steely composure. Her approach to many situations is quite pragmatic and is easily frustrated if anyone else does not understand why she did the action in the first place.
People who stick around Mana long enough learn that she is a decent person. A strong sense of justice and ethics are often seen in her decisions. She is charismatic, good at making friends, and knows how to keep a group of individuals together. Her blunt comments are often prelude to telling you the mistake you made and how to avoid it the next time. She is often disgusted by those who think war is a game, killing is a pleasurable activity, and/or betraying is no big deal.
However, don't think she is a complete softy. If one does betray or slighted her in a major way, Mana will not hesitate to shoot you.
Background: Mana Ira was born in a Tel Aviv hospital in late spring of '59. Her parents were immigrants that were displaced from their homes during the Holocaust. Her mother, Zita, raised her while her father, Lavi, served in the IDF during its most active period. They moved to Safed after Lavi's older brother died in a combat operation in '68. They later moved back to Tel Aviv after the Ma'alot massacre. In March of the next year, Zita was killed during a hostage rescue at the hotel she worked at. This loss made her reconsider her dream career of acting to one of the military.
She graduated in June 1977 and joined the service two months later. Mana was guaranteed a spot for Aman's Hatzav Unit due to her high Bagrut scores in Arabic and English, but decided to apply for the Sayeret Matkal. After training, she participated in reconnaissance and sabotage operations during the First Lebanon War. In June 1983, she became a reservist and went to the United States to study theater arts.
In September of the same year, Mana met Amit Dreyfuss after he was called to do a psychological evaluation on a "pre-adolescent male who got in a fight in a tavern." They became close much to the dismay of his parents, and married in July 1984. They had their only child, Feivel, on February 1985. However, he had been diagnosed with Tay-Sachs soon after, and died in March 1987. In grief and disgust, she went back to work with the Mossad later that year. Amit, along with her help, adopted a young girl by the name of Vivian Falts in August 1988.
In 1996, she met future STARS member Barry Burton at a regional NRA competition. They became friends and exchanged numbers soon after. It was at Barry's suggest to join, but Mana refused over the phone due to a simple slight. However, she had been purchasing firearms customized specifically for shooting competitions from the Kendo Brothers.
During her month-long service in 1998, Mana was called back to the States for an emergency. She found out from Vivian that she and Amit were attacked by dogs, went to the hospital in Raccoon City, and was forced to kill him after attacking her without provocation. They left back for Tel Aviv soon after when Vivian believed that she was being chased. Neither one would know what had happened until later that year when they seen news reports of Raccoon City being bombed.
Nearly a year later, Mana had been one of the major figures in halting a T-virus outbreak in Tel Aviv. Along with Barry, she prevented information from being taken from the Mossad headquarters and destroyed a G that had been created to cause confusion. Her own father had been killed in stopping the outbreak, and Vivian was blamed for it. Although she knows who is the one responsible for all of it, Mana has no solid proof or information to place Albert Wesker.
Over the next eleven years, Mana has been focusing on making good with Israel's disgruntle neighbors and gathering the evidence to prove Vivian's innocence. She's been pretty irked since the idea of an international group that investigate bio-terrorist threats was shot down in the UN several years back. Countries that have not been destroyed or corrupted by Wesker's plans had been decreasing by the day. Groups willing to help had been classified as terrorist organizations.
Then, one day, she disappeared. The last time anyone had seen her was leaving the Kirya Compound at night.
Personal Effects: At the moment of her kidnapping, Mana was carrying an envelope with a letter in Hebrew, two strips of cloth similar to ones on her shoulder with the exception of an added leaf, a few pieces of honey-based confectionery, a set of dog tags and wedding bands on nylon cord, and a wallet with a small amount of cash and few pictures within.
