Physical Description: 5’11” (181 cm), 184lbs (83.6 kg), blood type: O
Chris is of average height and an above-par physique, one that has been acquired through years of dedicated training and simple survival against impossible odds. He heralds a healthy sun-tanned peach coloured skin completion and sports dark brunette hair. The hair and skin are complemented by dauntless cobalt-blue hues. Chris has got a few miscellaneous scars, as can only be expected from the lifestyle that he has led, but nothing worthy of particular note.
Square jaw-line, distinguished features, and roguish good-looks despite his growing age; his hair is a less-kept and shorter mess than the strict military cut he used to sport in his younger years. Mild facial hair – nothing more than a five o’ clock shadow/stubble from not having had the opportunity to shave before waking up within the mansion-facility in question.
Attire: Chris is wearing exactly what he was wearing on the day of his disappearance, back in 2017; a black under-armor type of top (sleeveless), an army green over-shirt that is rolled-up and buttoned at the elbows; there are pockets on either arm of the shirt with ‘B.I.O.’ embroidered in black, a black tactical with the matching logo in white, and a utility vest with 6 pouches. Military belt, knee-guards, boots, and fingerless gloves. His gun seems to be missing, but he still has his hip pack. Khaki coloured fatigues.
Strengths: Chris is an ace pilot, remarkable sharp-shooter, and proficient at hand-to-hand combat—he is more than an ‘adept soldier’. Chris could quite possibly be regarded as a ‘perfect’ soldier, as a matter of fact, when it comes to both his well-rounded skills and his sense of duty.
Mr. Redfield also has an indomitable spirit; a will to keep going even when others might all but give up hope. Not only this, but his compassion for others ensures that he will gladly turn back around to help others where they fall short, or risk his life to save another man. He’d be willing to carry them if he had to.
Chris cannot be corrupted or persuaded to take a crooked path, and he has a fire in his spirit that is oft encouraging and infectious to others around him; Chris is an exceptional motivator, and knows how to help others stay encouraged even when the outlook is bleak. Knock him down and he’ll just stand back up again. Kick him around and he’ll still keep trying. Chris’ spirit is unbreakable, so long as he has someone or something to protect, because he has something much bigger than himself to fight for. To him, that is what real power means.
Weaknesses: As Chris is known for being both bull-headed and stubborn, these are both rather evident flaws with his character. Furthermore, he tends to rush into situations head-first without sitting back and taking the time to analyze a situation. Chris is very much driven by his emotions, and his loyalty to his fellow man makes him extremely easy to manipulate, for someone who would exploit that kind of “weakness”, at any rate. Chris’ physical strength is average for a human—perhaps a little stronger for a man his age, but compared with some of the other players running around the mansion, that really means next to nothing. Chris is fairly smart, but no super genius; he can’t really handle chemicals or make heads or tails of genetic equations.
Chris does not have any particular fears, except perhaps of losing the ones he loves.
Personality: Dedicated, head-strong, hard-working, dutiful, loyal, quick-tempered, and with a brash personality, Chris is the very definition of stalwart and brave. He can have a very one-track mind and is damn near impossible to dissuade once he has set his mind to something. Incorruptible morals and never willing to compromise, Chris is armed with a fierce desire to protect those who cannot protect and defend themselves. He is particularly protective of women. Although the years have not been good to him, Chris has an unwavering belief in doing what is right and would never leave a man behind. Abiding by a very strict moral and ethical code, and more than willing to sacrifice himself if it means the greater good, Chris is the very antithesis of the man who has placed the players of this deadly masquerade into this their gilded cage.
Background: Christopher Anthony Redfield was born the first and only son to Christian Tucker Redfield and Catherine, “Kitty”, Abigail Redfield in 1973. Six years later he became the older brother to one Clarissa Taylor Redfield, his precious baby sister. Chris led an average childhood marked by hazy summer days, many life-long friendships, some rather less-than-stellar grades, and many happy memories. His hometown was the one adjacent to Raccoon City, which is where he spent most of his summers, with the Burton family. When Chris was 12 years old however, that life came to a screeching halt with a terrible and violent car crash which took everything but Claire away.
Going to live with his aunt and uncle in the next state over, Chris had a very difficult time adjusting to and coping with the aftermath. Losing his parents during such formative years took a heavy toll on him and placed a heavy burden on his shoulders, leaving him feeling as though he should have been able to do something. It was not a feeling that Chris should ever forget. His high school years proved difficult for the young Christopher; growing peevish and his already “less-than-stellar” turning poor, he focused most of his energies into playing in every sport that he could try out for and trying not to flunk an anger management course. The only positive thing about these years was the close relationship that he developed with his sister.
The second that he turned 18 and had his diploma in hand, Chris hit the ground running and joined the US Air Force without looking back. Best in his class at aerial dynamics, pro marksmanship, excellent at CQC, good rapport with others, and top grades in his leadership course all lent to the idea that Chris was and is the perfect soldier. However, following orders was not exactly his strong suit; at 23, whilst on a top-secret mission, one of the members of his team was injured. Despite countless orders to leave the man behind, Redfield refused and was subsequently dishonorably discharged from the Air Force for insubordination.
For the next year and a half Chris was penniless and unemployed; the tarnished reputation made it difficult for him to find work despite his best efforts. It wasn’t until Barry Burton, the youngest brother of his father’s best friend and a long-time friend to Chris himself, suggested that he try out for the S.T.A.R.S. that Chris felt his life stable out and found a sense of normality.
Life as a S.T.A.R.S. member suited Chris perfectly, and he gave only his best and most dedicated efforts to his team and Captain, ultimately earning himself the title of Alpha Team’s Point Man. While this era of Chris’ life was fairly short-lived, it made a significant impact on his person.
April 27th, 1998, the first of a series of bizarre murders happens in Raccoon City.
June 21st, 1998, S.T.A.R.S. is assigned to assist in the investigations.
June 23rd, 1998, Bravo team is sent first into the Arklay woods in order to investigate; their helicopter malfunctions and crashes; Alpha team loses contact but are forced to wait the standard 24 hours before they may go to look for them.
June 24th, 1998, the Mansion Incident; an affair which would prove to change Chris’ life forever.
Through the twists and turns of the mansions rigorous, deadly hallways, Chris Redfield and Rebecca Chambers (the youngest and only-surviving-member of Bravo Team that he had been able to find – dis-including Richard Aiken, whom had thrown himself in front of the Neptune in order to save Chris’ life) fought in order to survive and uncovered the mansions secrets, ultimately discover Wesker’s treachery and his master plans for the Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S. department; to lead them into hell itself and record their deaths as “combat data” as well as collect viral samples that he would sell to the highest bidder. Furious, but rendered helpless but to do anything but watch as Wesker shot Rebecca and then explained his plans in further detail, Chris could only sand by while Wesker activated the Tyrant only to be subsequently “killed” in a most brutal fashion at its clawed hand. Christopher defeated the Tyrant, temporarily, rousted Rebecca, procured Jill from a jail cell, and met up with Barry before the second and final bout with the T-002 model B.O.W. Chris was the one to finish the Tyrant off with a rocket launcher, and the four survivors in question were barely able to make off with their lives.
After the events of that fateful night, Chris, Jill, and Barry confronted the Chief of Police, Brian Irons, only to be silenced and suspended. The official press documents insinuated drug use and recklessness as the cause of all the other S.T.A.R.S. deaths—it was a cover up. Chris, frustrated, did some digging up on the Chief but grew tired of the stand-still before he found what he was looking for. Barry stated that he didn’t feel safe anymore and wanted to take his wife and daughters to Canada—nobody could blame him, Jill wanted to stay behind to try and see if she could tide things over with the public, and Rebecca had decided to peruse her own leads over a Mr. Coen, leaving Chris to take off to Europe alone. He didn’t leave his sister any kind of note or warning, so as to try and keep her out of the trouble that he had found himself in; this only proved to be more problematic for him than he could have imagined, in the long haul. Trailing leads in Britain and then France, Chris’ attempts to confront Umbrella Corporate directly turned up nothing. It wasn’t until he returned to the states that he discovered even bigger things than the mansion had gone down; Raccoon City was gone. Blown off the face of the earth with a government missile—due to a “deadly pathogen” that had been released, they said, “surely a terrorist attack on American soil”, they said, everyone in Raccoon City had been dead, they said—it was another, much bigger cover up!
Jill, and another man, by the name of Corporal Carlos Olivera, had barely survived the massive viral epidemic that had unfolded there within an inch of their lives; the only reason that they had survived was because Barry had gone back for them, convinced that if Jill had survived the mansion, she would have survived the tragedy there as well—but what’s more, there was a new-comer to their growing party, Leon S. Kennedy, who informed Christopher that he and his sister had both been survivors of the Raccoon City Incident as well. Evidentially Claire had tracked him down and followed him to France and where she had broken into a high-tech Umbrella facility on a false lead. Now his sister was being kept prisoner on Rockfort Island, which experiencing its own massive viral outbreak. Leon wanted to accompany Chris, but he had his hands full with another assignment for the time being as he’d just signed on with the US Government as a Special Agent, but Chris preferred to go at it alone anyway; a reconnaissance and recovery mission would require stealth and the fewer men the better. S.T.A.R.S. members were trained to be able to work solo anyhow; he refused to let Barry or Jill come along either, so that no one else would get hurt. He’d bring Claire back himself and that was that.
When Chris arrived at the coordinates that were given to him, however, and scaled a cliff-face (losing his duffle of equipment in the process) in the name of clandestine covertness, he was caught off guard to find the island already completely decimated in the aftermath of several underground explosives. Finding a lone survivor, Rodrigo Jaun Raval, who was badly injured, Chris was then informed that his sister had already left the island and was now in Antarctica. Rodrigo was then attacked by a massive worm-like B.O.W. and though Chris tried to save him, it was to little avail.
Making his way through the island in search of a way to get to Claire, Chris encountered the one being that he did not anticipate that he would ever see again: Albert Wesker. His once-Captain and ally back in S.T.A.R.S. who had now become a monster in his own right—a self-made Tyrant.
Chris was bested easily during their encounter and only allowed to live because Wesker found himself with larger query, but the two were, of course, fated to meet again; escaping Rockfort and taking a jet to Antarctica, Chris found his sister, fought with Alexia, twice (effectively killing her), and then re-challenged Wesker to a second duel. This second fight set the president for any and all encounters to follow: completely out-matched (and usually getting his ass handed to him), Chris stands no chance against Wesker, and yet that will never stop him from trying. Over and over again, it appears as though it is sheer dumb luck that has saved Chris’ life.
After the incident on Rockfort and the Antarctic, the world slowly began to take a nose dive, and though Chris and his friends could feel it, as imposing and unstoppable as thunder, Christopher refused to ever back down.
In 2000 Chris helped to form a very underground anti bio-terrorism group by the name of Biohazard Intervention Organization (or B.I.O. for short); however, despite their cause, they were regarded in the public eye as “terrorists” themselves, and in spite of the group’s best efforts, rather than falling, Umbrella still stood strong.
In late 2003 Chris happened upon (one-half) of a genetic experiment that Wesker had been conducting - one for his own sheer amusement as far as Chris could guess; whilst infiltrating a facility where the blonde was housing personal research, Captain Redfield discovered a 5-year-old boy being kept in a coma-like stasis within a cryogenic tank. Following his very visceral drive to protect, Christopher secured the boy and upon bringing him back to their (loosely-defined) ‘home base’, it was discovered that the child in question had no particular memories of how he got into said tank or any life before. Chris decided to call the boy Cayden. At a later time, it was discovered that half of the boy’s alleles belonged to Chris while the other half matched a certain narcissistic demigod; the boy was a literal genetic splice of Chris and Wesker’s physiological profiles. After learning this, Chris decided to adopt the boy as a “son” and abridged the name to Cayden Tobias Redfield. Cayden, however, would prove to be a very difficult child; in as much as he had Chris’ quick-temper and blatant flip, he also had many personality characteristics in common with Wesker as well.
Continuing campaigns against Wesker and Umbrella, with little-to-no success, Chris seemed to be constantly losing what little men he had to their endeavors; only few faces remained constants, such as those of Jill and Barry and his sister. Leon also worked with them from time to time, but Chris found him frustrating to deal with strictly on the grounds that he seemed to pay more attention to his sister than the objective at hand. As for his own love life; Chris shared an on-again-off-again, less-than-professional, and definitely-romantic partnership with Jill Valentine. The two had always been close, but their relationship turned physical shortly after he’d come back from rescuing Claire. Still, because of their line of work, neither party felt as though they could peruse an actual relationship with one another ‘until this was all over’. It was just too hard, because despite the way that they very clearly felt about one another, they had other priorities to deal with. This didn’t stop their romantic pursuits, however, nor the fact that Chris knew that he loved her. He was always just waiting for the right moment to present her with a ring.
In 2009 Claire and Leon were married. Though a little miffed and defensive, protective of his little sister, Chris walked Claire down the aisle and handed her off to her new husband, wondering if he’d ever get the chance to propose himself. Alas, this would never come to be.
In 2017, at the age of 44, Chris’ life would yet again change forever:
Whilst on a solo-mission to once more try and throw a wrench into Wesker’ gears, the jet that Christopher had been piloting suffered a severe malfunctioned causing his ship to plunge into the North Pacific, just outside of his intended goal of Alaska. Before the crash he shouted into his radio that a farewell to his friends and that he had always loved Jill, but was unsure if the message ever got though. It was the last that anyone ever heard of him.
Although nobody could guess it, the freezing waters were enough to leave Chris fast-frozen and preserved in perfect condition until the long-forgotten fighter plane was discovered much by change by Umbrella personnel in 2086, a full 69 years after his disappearance. Handed over to a bemused Wesker, and still kept frozen solid, it was determined that he would “hold onto Chris” until a time where he might prove useful or entertaining. 16 years later, that time is now.
Waking up in a thawed mess, Chris finds himself dizzy, disoriented, and confused, in a place that looks and smells and feels like a mansion that he thought that he had left behind one hot summer night oh so long ago. With no recollection or understanding as to how he got there, he has no idea of the date or time, or economic status of the world around him.
Personal Effects: A S.T.A.R.S. edition combat knife – because Wesker’s a fuck. Ruined pack of cigarettes. A crinkled, half-destroyed photograph of his “family”; Claire, Leon, Cayden, and Jill. An M.O. disk with no audio player. And an engagement ring tucked into his front-left breast pocket – a ring that he had intended for Jill.
Personal Quote: “So long as we all work together, we can get through this.”
