Name: Hardin, Kyle
Aliases: N/A
Age (actual/appears): 35 years old
Gender: Male...a lot of male...a huge male...or so he will tell you.
Nationality: United States of America
Occupation/Organization: He bills himself as a private security consultant but has been known to do far more than merely consult if the price is right.
Allies: The highest bidder.
Enemies: The lowest bidder.
Physical Description: Kyle is a man who stands at 5'8" and weighs in at 190 lbs, most of which is from very toned muscles. He has dark brown hair that he keeps cut short in an almost military style and eyes of a matching shade of brown. On his left arm is a ragged, ugly scar completely encircling his forearm. His features largely consist of sharp angles but none that would give people a reason to feel strangely about him, though no one would find him attractive in the conventional sense.
Attire: His clothing consists of jungle colored Tigerstripe camouflage and an assault vest that is a replica of the one he wore during his time with the UBCS.
Strengths: Kyle was trained as a soldier and served in the Middle Eastern theatre. He has training and experience in the use of firearms, CQC and the finer points of explosives. He also has survivalist training and knows how to keep himself alive in wastelands with the bare minimum. He has a sound tactical knowledge and a strong survival instinct that borders on ruthlessness. He is also a former UBCS member, trained to deal with most of Umbrella's walking mistakes. Kyle has always been a quick draw, a skill that he has honed to a fine art, to the point where he could almost outshoot a subhuman.
Weaknesses: While Kyle can draw and fire a pistol faster than just about anyone alive, his aim leaves a lot to be desired. He once drew and fired at a man standing 25 feet away and ended up shooting a bird out of a tree 40 feet away. He also doesn’t have reactions good enough to do his draw justice, and a human BOW could easily incapacitate him before he even realized they were there. He has a short temper when under stress, which can cause him to act rashly even if he won't overly express his frustrations. His muscles are geared more for strength than endurance so he becomes tired very easily. His reserved nature and self-serving actions mean that he does not make friends easily.
Personality: Kyle is reserved to the point that others may think of him as stoic, but possesses an explosive temper that tends to manifest in rash judgments when he is angry. Once, he was a believer in his country and what it stood for, but he now has no such illusions. While he may not have loyalties to any one government or company and largely takes jobs based on the need for money that doesn't mean he's completely amoral. He values his own discretion over what jobs to take and will often pass on contracts that rub too hard against his own sense of ethics. If it is within his ability to help others he will; though his actions are only rarely self-sacrificing.
He has become disillusioned and distrustful of just about everyone, and can no longer be convinced to help others unless it is largely in his own best interests. He is particularly distrustful of military types, whom he sees as being self-righteous and deceptive.
Background: If anyone asked, Kyle would say he’d led a normal life. Shortly after dropping out of High School, he enlisted in the armed forces. Trained and armed to kill, he was sent to the Middle East to stamp all over the local populace in the name of freedom and democracy. He realized that his superiors were selling supposed POW’s to the Umbrella Corporation to be used as test subjects in America and Europe. Instead of confronting them directly, he made a choice that would change his future by setting aside his standard issue weapon and picking up an enemy rifle. The platoon's second lieutenant and the following investigation and court martial by the Army Judge Advocate General could not conclusively prove he was responsible for the massacre he was discharged from military service regardless.
Kyle was released from prison with a general discharge from the army and a gag order, prohibiting him from speaking out about the events he had witnessed on pain of further incarceration, and perhaps even death. Kyle kept his silence, but didn’t want to be just another veteran living on the streets. He took the UBCS’s offer of employment - as they were one of the only companies that would employ a discharged military man - where he learned even more things he didn’t want to know about Umbrella.
Kyle slogged through a few hard years in the UBCS, before he finally earned enough money to semi-retire. Knowing he wouldn’t have enough to last him beyond forty and having seen it all, as far as he was concerned, Kyle began his own freelance security consultancy firm. The move came at an excellent time, when the United States was entering a period of systematic bouts of bio-terrorism. Kyle found plenty of work, and plenty of money, waiting for him, some of it from Umbrella itself.
Advising various individuals and organizations on the measures they would need to take to protect themselves from human and inhuman enemies alike, Kyle spent several years undertaking some of the easiest work he had ever done, with occasional instances of more taxing soldiering when he wanted a job done right.
Last reports indicated Kyle was taking care of some “personal business” in South America, before he vanished without a trace. His client has not been named, but this isn’t unusual. Kyle had a lot of clients who liked to remain anonymous.
Personal Effects: He wears a necklace with a silver pentagram amulet and carries on his person a brass compass in a felt pouch, a brushed steel Zippo lighter and a small red Swiss army knife.
