Name: Shakahnna Taylor
Aliases: Her name is her alias but she’s had it so long it’s the only one she really associates with herself.
Age (actual/appears): Shakahnna is in her mid twenties but appears older.
Gender: Female
Nationality: American
Occupation/Organisation: An officer with Stars, a voluntary police organisation. Currently assigned along with her partner Ethan Burke to protect Jonathon Wesker.
Allies: Generally - Shak gets along well with all Stars and law enforcement officials. She also has a great deal of sympathy for civilians. She is less trustful of military types, but is still happy to work with them. However, she has very few personal friends, and mostly only associates with others in a professional capacity. Though she often doesn’t realise it, her manner has a tendency to rub people up the wrong way.
Specifically
Ethan Burke - Burke is Shak’s best friend and partner. They are like night and day in temperament, with Shak’s cheery disposition and often manic enthusiasm complementing Burke’s generally stern character and grim realism. They work well together, however, and are perhaps the only two people capable of tolerating one another for who they really are. Burke keeps Shak in line, and Shak stops Burke from eating a gun.
Jonathon Wesker - If asked she will insist that she and John are lovers. In truth, she just enjoys making him squirm but only because she has a genuine love and respect for him. She has grown to think of him as part of her own family and protecting him has become something of a life mission for her. Though she calls him a weenie, she doesn’t mean any harm by it. She is always stealing his smokes and threatening to slap his arse, though due to her own dislike of physical contact, she is unlikely to follow through with it.
But he doesn’t know that.
Enemies: Umbrella. Shak was born and raised to hate the Company, and nothing in her life has suggested she should feel otherwise. The only good Umbrella worker is a dead Umbrella worker, and the few that she has met who didn’t end up on the ends of her claws were defectors. Shak is a reasonable soul, and understands that some people can make terrible, horrible mistakes, like joining the scum. She reserves all of her hate for this particular section of society, but rather than emerging as anger, this tends to manifest in the gleeful way she tortures and kills them.
Physical Description: Shak is stout at five and a half feet tall, but built like a brick shithouse. She has a very solid frame, broad shoulders and a heavy, if undefined, muscle mass. Her build is broad by nature, giving her a wide bust, wide hips and thick limbs. Her life as a soldier has simply made her yet wider. She has red hair down to her back, usually tied into a messy plait or ponytail. Time and exertion tends to cause it to escape and end up in a disarray around her face. Her eyes are green and vibrant, alive with mischief. Her body is littered with battle scars and many self-inflicted wounds as well. The newest injury she has suffered is a tear in her right cheek, splitting her face in half on the right side. She has the wound stitched up, but it is not yet fully healed.
Attire: Shak is wearing a black vest top under a green coverall with the Stars logo emblazoned on the shoulder. She wears a modified pair of black military issue boots. Unfortunately, her tactical vest, gear and beloved cat claws have been stolen by some cunt, leaving her unarmed but hardly defenceless.
Strengths: Shak is very physically powerful, as her physique shows. A practitioner of several different martial arts, she has a great deal of close combat prowess. She is less proficient with firearms, but she knows enough to use them in a fire fight, even if it isn’t what she prefers. She favours a Colt .45 semi-automatic. Shak can make and utilise crude explosive devices and makeshift weapons involving blades, which she is also very fond of. She often devises explosive recipes through taste, meaning she has an exceptionally hardy constitution when it comes to poisoning. Shak is a non-symptomatic carrier of the T-virus. Her blood is infectious, but she is otherwise immune to the virus’s effects. She adapts well to her environment and has a fondness for setting traps. She has a high tolerance for fear, willing to press on no matter how bleak the situation seems. She also has an almost ungodly amount of focus when she finds something that she wants to achieve, and will never be persuaded. Unfortunately, her ends usually tend to be explosive in nature.
Weaknesses: Shak isn’t a very good runner, preferring to stand and fight even if the opponent isn’t capable of being beaten by conventional means. She also has a tendency to put other people’s well-being ahead of her own, which - though noble - can mean she gets badly hurt or even killed as a result. Though she does think through every course of action, explosives tend to be her answer, regardless of how apt they are. She fails with electronics in just about every arena, including anything to do with computers. Many is the appliance that has fallen to the wrath of an unhappy Shak. Also, while she would never acknowledge it, or would even be aware of it, she is not very good with people, her blasé, easy-going manner tending to rub people up the wrong way. She is very thick-skinned, and as such assumes everyone else is too. She is prone to impatience and boredom, which can be bad when she tries to liven things up, or when she cannot focus on an important, but tedious, task. Also, as a masochist, tends to take more punishment than is necessarily good for her. She has a tendency to play with her opponents, leaving her open to attack from other sides. Despite being infected, she has no subhuman properties. She can die just as easily as any mortal. As hardcore sadomasochist, it causes many problems when she insists there must be torture. And is obviously aroused by such.
Personality: Shak is usually cheery and bright-eyed, always smiling and laughing and ready for a joke. This tends to extend into mania when she is tired or stressed. She is thick-skinned and has a tendency to make inappropriate jokes at unfortunate moments. However, because she is slightly oblivious, she generally doesn’t notice if she is getting resentful looks, often mistaking them for encouragement. She is fiercely loyal to her companions, even those that secretly resent her.
She is laid back and slow to anger, though when she blows she burns hot and bright for a split second. Her rage is a short-lived storm. Usually, her hatred for the Company tends to manifest in sadism, and she laughs and delights as she slices her victims to pieces. However, for every one part sadism, she is two parts masochism, and likes to feel pain more so than cause it. Even so, she is very creative with her violence and enjoys trying new things. She smiles even with a length of intestine in her hands or a hole in her shoulder, and has a tendency towards skipping and singing while she fights. Her playfulness bleeds through in everything she does.
Though she does tease her comrades, she doesn’t meant to cause harm or upset. She has no hobbies, primarily because her career suits her so well. She is very happy with her life, right up until she is kidnapped by an unknown assailant.
Background: Shak’s young family life was largely ordinary, save for the fact that her father really wanted a son. As the eldest of three daughters, she was most suited for the lifestyle. She had a tendency to hang around in rough neighbourhoods, and rougher people, when she was growing up. Many of her skills were learned through experience rather than being taught to her, though she has honed those skills through classical training.
From a young age, Shak hated the Company. She would associate with those with similar views and, on one occasion, she was drawn into a riot that ended with her killing a member of the UBCS. Knowing this would bring trouble to her family, Shak left her hometown with little word of goodbye.
Shak lived from day to day, doing whatever work she could in the towns she moved through. With the zombies everywhere, there was always work for someone with her brawn and fighting skills. Though she enjoyed the work, she was isolated, and so a lot of her quirks of personality and behaviour developed during these years.
In one town, Shak found that people were vanishing off the streets. At first, it was assumed that the zombies were claiming lives, lurking in the back alleys of the city. Shak went looking for the cause and found an Umbrella truck promising people meals and accommodation. Shak attempted to disrupt the operation, but the people in charge were professionals. They knocked her out and sent her along with the captives.
Shak was due to be used as a test subject in the facility where she was taken to. However, shortly after her capture, Stars attacked the facility and freed the captives in a lightning raid. Shak, enamoured with an organisation that opposed the Company and did important work, followed the Stars with the intention of being accepted into their ranks. Eventually, they realised they were unable to turn her away.
Shak thrived in Stars, learning new skills and taking part in several missions to disrupt Umbrella’s activities. Unfortunately, due to her tendency to upset the people she works with, who are either far more serious than her, or unwilling to indulge in the kind of casual brutality that she enjoys, Shak found herself on babysitting duty with another misfit, Ethan Burke.
Rather than hating the job, as she first expects to, she finds that she quite enjoys watching over John and his small and eclectic family, and being partnered with Burke. That is, until someone or something breaks into their home and Shak awakens to find herself in a strange, and obviously hostile, place.
Personal Effects: Someone has stolen her cigarettes and her lighter. There will be trouble. They did, however, leave her picture of herself.
