Name: Krillin
Aliases: n/a
Age (actual/appears): 30
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Planet of Origin: Earth
Allegiance: Gohan, Bulma and Earth. He mistrusts aliens, but will ally with them against Frieza.
Allies: Krillin can count his allies on the ship on one hand. He trusts only Gohan and Bulma, and even then, as of late, he has been closing himself off even to them. His oldest and best friend was Goku, before his cold-blooded murder at the hands of Vegeta.
Enemies: Krillin’s greatest enemy, perhaps even more so than the looming threat of Frieza, is Vegeta. Vegeta’s murder of Goku has thrown a pall over Krillin’s life from which he cannot escape and he is desperate to kill Vegeta for what he has done. He refuses to believe that Vegeta might have reformed in any way, or might have any potential for change, after what he has done. Krillin has a deep distrust of all aliens, including those on his side, and he views them all as potential enemies.
Physical Description: Krillin is stout, very short at five feet, but with a very broad and muscular physique. He is completely hairless, but through choice rather than any hereditary condition. He bears six circular burn scars on his forehead in two vertical rows of three. He also has a ragged scar on the top of his head.
Usual Attire: For battle, Krillin usually wears his gi from Muten Roshi’s dojo, an orange top and trousers over a blue t-shirt, secured with a blue sash. The symbol on the front is of Roshi’s dojo, while the larger symbol on the back is the glyph for Goku’s name, an eternal reminder of who Krillin is really fighting for. He also carries Yajirobi’s sword, dropped during the battle against Vegeta, which he keeps with the intent of one day using on Vegeta, just as he had intended to do long ago.
Strengths: Krillin was the strongest human on Earth even when Goku was alive. Now, the true depth of his power has been unlocked by Guru, the oldest Namek. This boon has given Krillin a way to continually break through his own barriers through his sheer desire to grow stronger. As such, he has become far more powerful than even Goku was at the time of his death, and constantly dogs Vegeta’s heels in terms of strength.
He is not only powerful but boasts a wide array of skills, from sensing energy to focusing his own power into energy attacks.
He is single-minded and determined, even more so now that he feels he has been backed into a corner by Vegeta. Feeling as though he has nothing left to lose, he throws himself into battles with little regard for his own safety, and losing is never an option for him. He has become a degree more ruthless since his last battle against Vegeta, and will destroy anyone who he feels is a threat to Gohan and Earth.
Weaknesses: Krillin is not emotionally stable, and hasn’t been since Goku’s death. He is prone to wild bouts of temper, and can lash out verbally at those around him. He is also prone to being conflicted about what is best for his “family”. On one hand, he feels that Vegeta is too dangerous to allow to live, while on the other he tries to keep Goku’s last wish that he spare him in mind. He often does not feel he is strong enough to be as merciful as Goku, and at the same time thinks himself weak for not just killing Vegeta when he has the chance.
Krillin’s anger issues and many of his emotional insecurities from his younger days have returned in spades to haunt him in the wake of Goku’s death. His temper flares for little reason, sometimes even completely without provocation, and he is borderline kamikaze, throwing himself into dangerous situations even though they might yet mean his death.
His lack of trust and gradual withdrawal into emotional seclusion may also prove to be his downfall. He is unwilling to turn to the others on the ship for assistance, and even Gohan and Bulma cannot be counted on, as he is too concerned with saving their lives to look to them for back-up. This leaves him feeling isolated, a feeling that is all too accurate. His aggressive distrust of his companions aboard the ship places him in dangerous situations. He is too quick to pick fights with them, and his brutal training regimen leaves him exhausted and open to retaliation.
Signature Moves: Kamehameha - A concentrated blast of energy launched from the palms.
Kienzan - A whirling disc of concentrated energy that cuts like a razor.
Solar Flare - A blinding flash of light that disorients the enemy for a protracted period. More a defensive move.
Fighting Style: Krillin trained under the Turtle Hermit, and before that he underwent training at the Oran Temple. After that, he was also trained by Kame. As such, his fighting style is made up of a derivative of the styles he learned from these sessions. He is a competent fighter and always fought with discipline before, though that has started to crumble now that Goku is dead. When he forgets his training, he fights with reckless abandon, pushing his body to greater and greater limits. He keeps the sword he carries specifically for Vegeta and refuses to use it on anyone else.
Personality: Krillin is predominantly angry, ranging from quietly seething to being outright hostile. At times, he can be morose, but chooses to mask his sadness with what he sees as a more productive alternative in rage. When he is less obviously miserable, Krillin has a sarcastic wit, but this can quickly become a sharp tongue when he is riled. He is prone to saying things that he doesn’t necessarily mean, or being overly harsh to those around him.
Once painfully aware of the danger he was putting himself in, Krillin is now past the point of caring about whether he lives or dies, and is more concerned about Goku’s son and their mutual friend, Bulma. As such, he is no longer interested in living to fight another day, and this is usually not his first priority.
Background: Krillin was raised in the Oran Temple. Growing up as the bastard son of a whore, the others took great pleasure in using that fact against him and, as the smallest of the group, he was often singled out as a target. He was regularly beaten and never treated with any dignity or respect. Those around him never had anything kind to say, and so he was alone for much of his young life.
Eventually, embittered and tired of the Temple, Krillin sought instruction from the Turtle Hermit. He was initially hostile towards Roshi’s other student, Goku, but by degrees the two became firm friends, primarily because Goku became the first person in Krillin’s life to treat him with any respect.
Krillin was once murdered by one of King Piccolo’s underlings, but Goku fought hard to resurrect him. The stories of Goku’s desperate attempts to bring him back further cemented their friendship. For long periods in their lives, the two were inseparable.
After Goku’s death during the battle against Raditz, Krillin waited a year for him to be restored and help them in the battle against Vegeta and Nappa. Before Goku could arrive, many of their other companions were killed - Tien, Chiaotzu, Yamcha and Piccolo - leaving him alone, save for Goku’s son Gohan. When Goku did finally come, he put a swift end to the battle against Nappa and then fought with Vegeta himself.
The battle was hard-fought, but Vegeta was defeated. Eager to end the threat once and for all, Krillin went to kill Vegeta, only for Goku to insist that he spare him. In Krillin’s moment of hesitation, Vegeta blasted him away, before bashing in Goku’s skull with a rock, then escaped in his shuttle.
Their attempts to retrieve the Dragon Balls on Namek were fruitless, leaving Gohan, Bulma and Krillin flying back to Earth with their friends still gone. Krillin took on Gohan’s training himself and, after Chi Chi was killed, he and Bulma became the boy’s only family.
Krillin is distrustful of the aliens who arrive, and he convinces himself that he goes with them to defend the galaxy, while keeping a close eye on Vegeta. In actuality, revenge may be his only real motivation.
Personal Effects: Yajirobi’s sword, taken from the battlefield after Goku’s death. He also has a sheath for it.
