Name: Zasha
Aliases: None
Age (actual/appears): 105 and looks the same as other Saiyans of the same age.
Gender: Female
Species: Saiyan
Planet of Origin: Planet Vegeta
Allegiance: To Vegeta and those fighting against Frieza.
Allies: Generally - Zasha counts those on the ship as her allies in the fight against Frieza. She is not friendly with all of them, or even most of them, as she refuses to speak the common tongue, save where it will get her cigarettes. She is ambivalent towards fighters like Krillin, and is not impressed by Vegeta’s current antics. Having known Vegeta’s mother, Zasha is ashamed of how he has been behaving of late, and is waiting for him to shape up and become the “Real King” they need to lead them.
Specifically - Zasha’s ally first and foremost is her twin sister Appezia, who was exiled from Planet Vegeta with her, and whom she has spent most of her life in the company of. Zasha loves her sister more than anyone else in the galaxy. Once she joins the ship, she becomes something of a test subject for Bulma, willingly granting her cooperation in testing new weapons and devices in exchange for cigarettes (portable mouth fire), which Zasha becomes somewhat fixated with. However, the reward is a bonus, as Zasha would take part regardless. Zasha also becomes fond of the young Gohan, and spends her time teaching him the Saiyan language. She is quite accepting of his gentle personality and life choices and is there as a friend should he need it. His lack of bloodlust makes him unlike most Saiyans she knows.
Enemies: While Zasha will fight with just about anyone, this is not to say she counts everyone as a potential enemy. She mostly uses fighting as a way of testing those around her for strength. Zasha feels genuine animosity for Frieza and his underlings. She has the same amount of disgust for all of Frieza’s lackeys, even those who are only doing his bidding to ensure their own survival. She sees them as having no pride and no desire to truly live. If they would be willing to sell themselves to Frieza, she believes they would be better off dead. She loathes the original King Vegeta for his inability to protect his wife and their planet. Behind Apezzia, the Queen was the only individual Zasha felt any genuine affection for on their home world. However, due to their absence, Zasha was not aware of her death until Vegeta told her of it upon his arrival on the ship. Vegeta’s unwillingness to lead and his twisted moral compass mean that he has also earned her ire.
Physical Description: Zasha is tall at six feet and broad - very, very broad - at more than three feet across at the shoulders. Her body is predominantly muscle with very little in the way of fat, as is normal for a Saiyan, regardless of gender. She still has the obvious shape of a woman, with a wide bust and hips, but still enjoys being mistaken for a man on occasion. Her black hair hangs down to her mid-back and is wild, since she lacks the will or the ability to tame it. Her eyes are gold, a quirk she inherited from her father. Her body is littered with scars, the most obvious being a thick track of scar tissue bisecting her face, and another curving over her left shoulder. Zasha still has her tail.
Usual Attire: When not padding around the ship in her underwear - possessing no real sense of shame - Zasha wears typical Saiyan battle gear, though hers is a little less well-kept than usual. Her crimson undersuit had sleeves at one point, and her white and gold torso guard had shoulder pads, but she has done away with these. There are also numerous rips and tears in the outfit, as well as scorch marks from previous battles. She ties her hair out of her face with a gold headband and wears two gold bracers around her wrists, which are mementoes of her father and mother respectively. She wears a cuff - spiked or not, depending on her mood - around her tail.
Strengths: Zasha’s formidable fighting power comes from a great deal of losing. She spent her youth brawling in Saiyan taverns, much to the disgust of her studious twin sister. As such, she was thrashed half to death on many occasions and developed a considerable power level as a result. She may also have developed a taste for the beating and won’t shy away from the chance to get another.
Loyal to a fault, Zasha will lay down her life for Appezia without hesitation, and will fight to the bitter end for the crew of the ship if need be. She appreciates quality of life over length, and lives every day as though it might be her last regardless.
Zasha has gone through the painful process of conditioning her tail to be insensitive to pain. Though it is considered vulgar for a Saiyan to use its tail for anything other than transformation, Zasha will happily use hers for anything, from picking pockets to a fifth limb for fighting. She has a special cuff that she attaches specifically to give it more punch. They are something of a double act, and sometimes she likes to pretend that the tail has a mind of its own.
Zasha’s tendency to fight with people as an introduction has taught her to gauge people’s power through how they fight. As such, she can tell when a person is disguising their true power without the need of a scouter or the ability to sense ki. Though she has no frame of reference, she can judge how strong someone is in relation to herself very quickly, and as such how strong they are in relation to others she has fought. And since Zasha fights everyone, she has quite a list.
Zasha was not classically trained in any Saiyan martial art, and resists any attempts to learn specific fighting styles. She much prefers a brawling mishmash of the various techniques she has seen/been on the receiving end of throughout the years. As such, she is highly unpredictable, with no set pattern to her movements.
Weaknesses: Zasha’s primary weakness is that she lacks discipline. She cannot be convinced to sit down and learn new techniques or tactics, and as such her repertoire suffers. Even something as simple as sensing power, Zasha is not interested in learning. She likes her way of doing things and adamantly refuses to do things differently. She also has a habit of picking fights above her weight class, and will happily leap into a battle she can’t win. This is exacerbated by her big mouth, which is always getting her into trouble.
Due to her unruly upbringing, Zasha’s power lacks focus like her sister’s does. While she is powerful, undeniably so, she has a tendency to break things without meaning to, though this is not a problem for Appezia. Despite this raw strength, Zasha is still the weaker of the two sisters, primarily due to her lack of formal training and her unwillingness to listen to good advice.
Zasha also suffers from an often unhealthy bloodlust and has little concern for her own physical well-being. As has been mentioned, she will throw herself into any fight, regardless of whether she can win.
Also, as Zasha’s method for discerning power involves becoming embroiled in a fight, the revelation that she is outmatched usually comes too late.
Signature Moves: Net - Zasha slashes with the fingers of both hands to create an X made up of ten strokes of energy. She then blasts this at her opponent. The energy is corrosive and burns the longer it is in contact with the opponent. This attack is more excruciating than deadly.
Suicide Streak - Zasha launches herself at her opponent in a concentrated ball of energy. Using this attack shortens Zasha’s lifespan and leaves her spent. Going at 50% will shorten her life by about a year. 100% is certain death.
The Tangle - Zasha creates a thin line of energy from each of her fingers and uses them to attack her opponent’s limbs, pulling them around like a marionette. This can be deadly if she latches around their neck or can squeeze the air out of their lungs. To anyone not sensitive enough to view the energy, it appears almost like she is making her opponent move without touching them.
Fighting Style: Zasha tends to be quite a playful fighter, rarely ever looking for an instant kill. She will usually be the one to chase, rather than be chased. She likes to cause hurt, primarily because it will make it more likely from her opponents in return. She uses a mishmash of physical and energy attacks, and her combat style is that of a brawler. She has no professional form nor poise and will attack with whatever is at her disposal, including her tail.
Personality: Zasha is predominantly cheerful. It is unlikely that she will ever be seen as sad or angry. Even when voicing a criticism of someone, she does so with a teasing tone. Most things do not really matter to her, so long as the individual is morally good. Those she actively dislikes she is more likely to vaporise than get mad at.
She is loyal, but her loyalty must be earned through actions, as these are the only things that matter to her. However, once it has been earned, it is largely unshakeable. Those she is loyal to, she will defend to her dying breath. She would do it for her sister, and would have done it for the Queen.
She is also often intolerably playful, and delights in causing frustration in those who take themselves too seriously, in her opinion. She will often steal things, refuse to speak in any other language but Saiyan and generally make a pest of herself in order to liven things up. Her tail is usually her accomplice in this, and she will often pretend that it has acted without her permission. If this makes someone want to swing for her then so much the better.
Zasha loves and lives to fight, and will happily lock up with anyone and everyone that crosses her path. She is a proud Saiyan in the sense that she is proud of an idealised warrior race that was epitomised by the late Queen of Vegeta and her sister Appezia. She is less keen on Saiyans like Vegeta and his father, who weren’t strong enough, mentally and physically, to resist Frieza, even though they are perhaps the “true” Saiyans.
Background: Zasha was born a second-class Saiyan, with a power level naturally much lower than her sister Appezia. Her sister was promoted to the Saiyan Elite Guard, but Zasha lived the life of a lower class warrior. As such, she went to many places someone of her breeding would never have visited.
Zasha’s predilection for pain was not necessarily a rarity among Saiyans, as many looked upon it as a way to gain more power. Few loved it for its own sake, as she did, however. Though brawling and self-mutilation were frowned upon by Vegeta’s ruling classes, the lower class used it as a means to an end, and Zasha fit in well with them.
Despite the rift in their lives, Zasha and Appezia were still relatively close, and by that we mean that Zasha wouldn’t leave Appezia alone. Despite the Queens’ indulgence, her repeated, unannounced visits to the palace were tolerated for only so long before she was banished from the planet altogether, along with her sister.
Zasha and Appezia lived together out among the stars for many years, with only one another for company, hopping from one planet to the next. After almost fifty years, they were finally tracked down by Tarbul, brother of the Crown Prince of the Saiyans, who enlisted them in his quest to gather fighters against Frieza, whom they had thus far avoided all knowledge of.
Zasha didn’t take a lot of convincing to join the cause, always eager for a fight, especially against the same being that had devastated their home planet. She and her sister are now aboard the ship, waiting for the final conflict to begin.
Personal Effects: Zasha wears a pair of gold bracers that once belonged to her mother, and a headband that once belonged to her father. She also has a pair of cuffs - spiked and not - that she fits on the end of her tail. Her battle gear was a gift from the Queen, and she cherishes it, having not really noticed the exile.
