Following the events at the isolated Antarctic facility, and the death of Alexia Ashford, events began to take a different path.
Albert Wesker, freed from the shackles of his mortality, experienced a meteoric rise to power. Posing as an independent consultant for hire, he gained control of his former employers, Umbrella Incorporated, as well as several other powerful governments and companies. Using them as his pawns, he arranged the world in a manner that pleased him, and would be conducive to his growing wealth and influence.
He maintained a record of those that had crossed him during his seminal stages, among them the former STARS members under his command. With his plans reaching fruition, he hunted down each and every last name on that list with ruthless efficiency. All loose ends were tied, leaving Wesker free to revel in his eternal victory.
The world was transformed into a chessboard. Countries were the pieces, and Wesker manoeuvred them for his own entertainment. While some nations flourished, others were driven into the depths of squalor. From those latter nations arose survivalists and escaped experiments, who could challenge his superhuman abilities.
It had been quite some time since Wesker had last been challenged. As an immortal without an opponent to test his iron grip on the world, he had grown bored. From that boredom came a game, inspired by his last brush with adversity.
He has gathered players, and staged the game in a replica of the estate where he once sacrificed his mortality.
The only objective is to escape, alive.
